Gandantegchinlen Monastery, commonly known as Gandan Monastery, is one of the most important and active Buddhist centers in Mongolia. Located in the heart of Ulaanbaatar, the monastery was originally built in the 19th century and has survived historical upheavals. It is home to monks, daily ceremonies, and the iconic 26.5-meter tall statue of Avalokiteshvara.
Today, approximately 150 monks reside at the monastery, actively maintaining Buddhist traditions and performing rituals.
