On this seven-day trip, we will comfortably discover the most beautiful parts of the Great Gobi Desert and Terelj National Park. We will also visit two very important places for the Turkish people.
Welcome to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia's capital. Your guide and driver will meet you at the airport and take you to your hotel in the city center. We will check into the hotel and rest until noon.
The first day program starts at noon. We start with lunch with the Mongolian team.
Visit the superb National Museum of Mongolian History, the largest museum in Mongolia, where you will learn the great history of Mongolia.
Walk in the city center of Ulaanbaatar and visit the main square of Chinggis Khan.
The fabulous traditional Mongolian show of Tumen Ekh will introduce you to Mongolian instruments, traditional dances, religious dances, traditional songs, overtone songs, and contortions in the evening.
Note: Once we arrive at the hotel in Ulaanbaatar, we will walk between the museums and the Tumen Ekh show to avoid the traffic. Our hotel is situated in the heart of the city, and every attraction is very close.
We will head to the airport and catch a flight to Dalanzadgad, Umnugobi province. Upon arrival, our driver will be waiting to continue our journey to Gobi.
Our next stop is the stunning Canyon of Yol! This breathtakingly beautiful destination is a must for nature lovers. Even in summer, the canyon's height prevents the sun's rays from reaching its depths, causing them to remain frozen. The canyon is also known as the Canyon of Eagles, as many wild birds, such as eagles and vultures, can be spotted here. After our journey through the Canyon, we continue our trip to another ger camp.
Visit the Sand Dunes of Khongor to explore 130 km of vast and stunning dunes. Here, we will see the nomad families who live in the area due to several oases and rivers providing water to the animals.
In the afternoon, we will climb to the highest dune of the Khongor, an experience you won't forget! From the top, you'll be able to take in the breathtaking views of the sand dunes, and even hear the singing sands as you take it all in. As the sand is moved due to winds or is in the process of collapse due to small avalanches, a strong sound is made giving it the name "Singing Sands.
Going on a camel ride in the Gobi Desert is a thrilling experience. The camel will take us smoothly over the sandy hills and the Khongor River, a sparkling water body that sometimes flows on top and sometimes under the ground. Our trip will take us to a small refreshing spot at the bottom of the hills, decorated with saxaul bushes.
This will be the last day in the Gobi desert. After breakfast, we will head north to visit the ancient Ongi Monastery.
On the way, we will visit Bayanzag Cliffs, a must-visit destination for any traveler interested in the history of the world. Located in the Gobi Desert, it is an area of breathtaking beauty rich in ancient fossils and dinosaur bones. In the Flaming Cliffs, humans discovered the first dinosaur bone, making it an incredible archaeological site that will leave you in awe.
The Monastery of Ongi is a fascinating historical monument located in the southern region of Mongolia. It was built in the 17th century and was one of the largest monasteries in the country. The monastery also served as one of the first universities in Mongolia and was home to up to 2,000 monks at its peak. It played a significant role as a religious and educational center during its time. Today, visitors can explore the ruins of the monastery and gain insight into the rich history and culture of Mongolia.
As we start our journey, we say goodbye to the dry and rough terrain of the Great Gobi and step on the lush and magnificent mountains of Khangai. The difference between the two ecosystems is an impressive sight, which reminds us of the amazing variety of the natural world.
Visit to the museum of Kharkhorin, the ancient capital of Mongolia. After creating Mongolia, Genghis Khan wanted to create the world's capital in the Orkhon Valley, but unfortunately, he died before it was built. In 1235, Ugudei, the son of Chinggis Khan, created this city in honor of his father.
Visit to Erdene-zuu Monastery. The 29th descendant of Chinggis Khan, Abtai Khan, wanted to create an extensive monastery but needed help choosing the right place. The 3rd Dalai Lama, Sonam Gyatso, advised him to build this monastery on the ruins of the ancient capital of Mongolia. In 1586, Abtai Khan then built Erdene-Zuu.
In the morning, we will visit the Museum of Khoshoo Tsaidam,
50 km from the ancient imperial city of Kharkhorin, in the valley of the Orkhon River, there are two monoliths of primary importance close to each other: one is a funerary monument built to the glory of the Turkish prince Kul-Tegin (685-731), the other is dedicated to his brother, Bilge-Khagan (716-734).
Then we will return to the city of Ulaanbaatar and rest at a hotel.
We will head to Gorkhi-Terelj National Park, a stunning green oasis located outside the city gates. The park features stunning rocky formations that have been sculpted by erosion, mountainous areas filled with lush pine trees, plains adorned with vibrant wildflowers and edelweiss, and tranquil rivers and lakes. We will spend a night at a comfortable ger camp located in the heart of this beautiful park.
On the way, we will stop at Turtle Rock, a uniquely shaped rock formation strikingly resembling a turtle. Following that, we will go to the Ariyaval Monastery, where we can explore its rich history and immerse ourselves in its serene surroundings.
We will visit a nomadic family and learn about their culture, traditions, and way of life. We will see how the nomadic people live, such as milking cows, making traditional dairy products, and gathering firewood.
We will also ride horses and explore the beautiful landscape. This experience will give us a unique insight into the nomadic way of life and allow us to appreciate the simplicity and beauty of living close to nature.
